Medical Assistance for Passive Residents
Medical Assistance for Passive Residents is an exclusive policy for foreigners who wish to obtain passive residency in Andorra and can thus demonstrate that they have healthcare cover in accordance with the requirements of Article 3 of the Regulations implementing the Law on Passive Residence (BOPA No. 32/1997).


Characteristics
- Medical Assistance for Passive Residents provides for the reimbursement of medical expenses, limited to the Principality of Andorra, in accordance with Caixa Andorra de Seguretat Social (CASS) rates, subject to the limits established.

Advantages
- The policy is exclusively for foreigners. It is not necessary to be insured by the CASS and the maximum age for joining the scheme is 70 years, subject to a health declaration.

Benefits
Guarantees:
- Reimbursement of the cost of non-hospital medical assistance (general medical practitioner, paediatrics and childcare, in clinics and at home, whenever necessary, physiotherapists and medical care by registered nurses, health technicians and specialist doctors). Reimbursement is guaranteed in the following cases: primary care, ambulance service, dental coverage, depending on the risks excluded.
- Reimbursement of hospitalisation expenses (doctor's fees, operating room, medication and dressings, rehabilitation and other expenses during the patient's stay in hospital up to 210 euros per day). The policy guarantees healthcare to patients who need it at the Hospital de Nostra Senyora de Meritxell in the event of illness or accident and during childbirth. Exclusion periods
3 months for hospitalisation or surgery.
6 months for special diagnostic tests and treatment.
10 months for attention to pregnancy, childbirth and the care of new-born babies.
There is no exclusion period in the event of accidents or life-threatening emergencies covered by the policy.
